For the purpose of promoting and protecting the health, safety, morals, convenience, order, prosperity, or welfare of the present and future inhabitants of the City of Port Wentworth; and for the purpose of lessening congestion in the streets and roads, securing safety from fire and other dangers, providing adequate light and air, promoting such distribution of population and such classification of land uses and distribution of land development and utilization as will tend to facilitate and conserve adequate provision of transportation, water supply, drainage, sanitation, educational opportunity, and recreation; and for other purposes, the Council of the City of Port Wentworth does hereby ordain and enact into law the following articles and sections. |
