§ 5-5. Standard codes.

  • (a)

    It is the intent of the City to enforce the latest edition of the following "State Minimum Standard Code", pursuant to O.C.G.A. § 8-2-20. "State Minimum Standards Code" means the following:

    International Building Code (ICC);

    National Electrical Code (NFPA);

    International Fuel Code (ICC);

    International Plumbing Code (ICC);

    International Mechanical Code (ICC);

    International Plumbing Code (ICC);

    International Residential Code for One- and Two-Family Dwellings (ICC);

    International Energy Conservation Code (ICC);

    International Fire Code (ICC);

    International Existing Building Code (ICC);

    International Property Maintenance Code (ICC);

    Standard Housing Code (SBCCI);

    Standard Amusement Device Code (SBCCI);

    Excavation and Grading Code (SBCCI);

    Standard Existing Buildings Code (SBCCI);

    Standard Swimming Pool Code (SBCCI); and

    Standard Unsafe Building Abatement Code (SBCCI).

    Any other codes deemed appropriate by the city council for the safety and welfare of Port Wentworth's citizens.

    (b)

    The term "state minimum standard code" shall specifically not include the Georgia State Fire Code as adopted by the safety fire commissioner pursuant to code section 25-2-13 nor shall any state minimum standard code be less restrictive than the Georgia State Fire Code.

    (c)

    It is the intent of the city to enforce the latest edition of the O.C.G.A § 25-2, Title 25 "Fire Protection and Safety", Chapter 2, "Regulation of the Fire and Other Hazards to Persons and Property Generally".
