§ 15-20. Permit required for charitable solicitation of monies from a public street.

  • (a)

    It shall be unlawful for any person to solicit charitable funds from a public street within the city without first obtaining a permit from the chief of police. The permit request should state the purpose, place, and time of the proposed solicitation. The charitable organization must be registered in accordance with O.C.G.A. § 43-17-5, or be exempt from registration in accordance with O.C.G.A. § 43-17-9.

    (b)

    Penalty for violation of this section shall be punished by a fine of not less than one hundred dollars ($100.00) nor more than five hundred dollars ($500.00).
