§ 13-9. Backing train regulations.

  • It shall be unlawful for any railroad company or person to permit an engine preceded by a car to enter into a road crossing which is not protected by gates unless said train is preceded into such a crossing by a flagman who shall give warning of the approach of the train at all times, both day and night. In the day time, the flagman shall be required to give warning with a red flag, and at night with a burning lantern, or a standard railroad fusee (flare) may be used in lieu thereof.
